This course helps you plan your use of Active Directory in Windows 2000, through a discussion of Active Directory security and replication strategies. The course explains group policies, different types of group policy objects (GPOs), group policy inheritance and precedence, and how to administer and manage a group policy. Learn about operations masters, their relation to domain controllers, and how to decide on the appropriate placement of operations masters. Become familiar with Active Directory replication through a discussion of the difference between replication and synchronization, how to prevent unnecessary replication and resolve conflicts, replication between sites and within a site, connection objects, automatic topology generation, modification of replication topology, replication partitions, and how to measure replication traffic on the network. This course describes how to manage replication traffic using sites, with explanations of how to generate replication topology, and how to create and manage sites, subnets, site links, and site link bridges.
Active Directory Security/Replication Strategy training covers such topics as:
Planning for Security
Planning Operations Master and Servers
Explaining Active Directory Replication
Discussing the Active Directory Replication Model
Managing Replication Traffic using Sites
This course addresses the training needs of system administrators
and network designers and IT consultants. The course also addresses
the needs of IT professionals who want to be certified under the
new MCSE track.
Completion of this course and the other Course titles from this curriculum prepares the learner for Microsoft Exam #70-219: Designing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure.
Description
This course helps you plan your use of Active Directory in Windows 2000,
through a discussion of
Active Directory security and replication strategies. First, the course
explains group policies, different
types of group policy objects (GPOs), group policy inheritance and precedence,
and how to
administer and manage a group policy. You will learn about operations masters,
their relation to
domain controllers, and how to decide on the appropriate placement of operations
masters. Next,
you will learn about Active Directory replication through a discussion
of the difference between
replication and synchronization, how to prevent unnecessary replication
and resolve conflicts,
replication between sites and within a site, connection objects, automatic
topology generation,
modification of replication topology, replication partitions, and how to
measure replication traffic
on the network. This course also covers how to manage replication traffic
using sites, with
explanations of how to generate replication topology, and how to create
and manage sites,
subnets, site links, and site link bridges. Related Exam: Microsoft Exam
#070-219: Designing a
Microsoft Windows 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure.
Audience
This course addresses the training needs of system administrators, network
designers, and IT
consultants. This course also addresses the needs of IT professionals who
want to be certified under
the new MCSE track.
Prerequisites
This course assumes the learners are experienced technical support personnel
or network
administrators, and have prior knowledge of creating and maintaining user
accounts and computer
accounts on Microsoft operating system platforms. They should know how
to configure network
services such as DHCP, DNS, and domains. The learners should also have
a working knowledge of
software installation over a network.
