This course introduces several new or enhanced technologies, procedures, and tools for increased dependence on the Web for business applications. The course presents a comprehensive view of Web applications with SQL Server 7.0. The course outlines Microsoft's overall Web strategy, including reasons for linking the databases to Web clients, possible tasks that can be accomplished through Web applications, tools used for integration and technologies involved. This course introduces the overall concept of web and database integration with Microsoft's SQL Server 7.0 and describes how to use the Web Assistant and its Wizard. The course outlines enhancements to the Microsoft server product, Internet Information Server, how it works, and what tools are available. This course is written to SQL Server 7.0.

This course introduces several new or enhanced technologies, procedures, and tools for increased dependence on the Web for business applications. The course presents a comprehensive view of Web applications with SQL Server 7.0. The course outlines Microsoft's overall Web strategy, including reasons for linking the databases to Web clients, possible tasks that can be accomplished through Web applications, tools used for integration and technologies involved. This course introduces the overall concept of web and database integration with Microsoft's SQL Server 7.0 and then describes the elements of and enhancements to the Web Assistant in version 7.0 and how to use the Web Assistant and its Wizard. The course describes enhancements to the Micros oft server product, Internet Information Server, how it works, and what tools are available. Many of the Microsoft technologies have broader SQL Server 7.0 application, but for Web integration, they mean ease of integration, speed, and flexibility for users. Discussed are two programming interfaces recognized by Internet Information Server (ISAPI and CGI), ActiveX Data Objects (ADO), OLE DB, and ASP. Operating from the client side of the architectural model, the ActiveX Documents, ActiveX Controls, ActiveX Scripting, and English Query tools enhance the user's ability to query the database and to transmit the request. This course is written to SQL Server 7.0. Prerequisites
Students understand computer system fundamentals, and have user knowledge of Windows 95,
