Description
This course introduces several new or enhanced technologies, procedures,
and tools for increased
dependence on the Web for business applications. The course presents a
comprehensive view of
Web applications with SQL Server 7.0. The course outlines Microsoft's overall
Web strategy, including
reasons for linking the databases to Web clients, possible tasks that can
be accomplished through
Web applications, tools used for integration and technologies involved.
This course introduces the
overall concept of web and database integration with Microsoft's SQL Server
7.0 and then describes
the elements of and enhancements to the Web Assistant in version 7.0 and
how to use the Web
Assistant and its Wizard. The course describes enhancements to the Micros
oft server product,
Internet Information Server, how it works, and what tools are available.
Many of the Microsoft
technologies have broader SQL Server 7.0 application, but for Web integration,
they mean ease of
integration, speed, and flexibility for users. Discussed are two programming
interfaces recognized
by Internet Information Server (ISAPI and CGI), ActiveX Data Objects (ADO),
OLE DB, and ASP.
Operating from the client side of the architectural model, the ActiveX
Documents, ActiveX Controls,
ActiveX Scripting, and English Query tools enhance the user's ability to
query the database and to
transmit the request. This course is written to SQL Server 7.0. Related
