The course covers a brief history of UNIX, information about the OS/390 shell, the MVS and shell environments, and customizing the shell. The terminal interface is introduced. The course covers shell scripts and commands, and writing shell scripts. Become familiar with the hierarchical file systems, files and directories, paths and pathnames, using commands, and the ISPF shell. Learn about working with files and directories and manipulating files, which includes editing, printing, copying, and transferring files between systems.
