Distributed Computing
Softcopy Services
Managing the System
This course is designed for system programmers, operators, managers, system
support personnel, and application programmers.
Description
This course is an introduction to the IBM OS/390 integrated network
operational environment.
OS/390 presents all the elements of the S/390 system in one integrated
package. This course
provides a brief background to mainframe systems, and describes
the basic functional areas of the
OS/390 environment.
The course describes the evolution of OS/390 from IBM's original
MVS system and provides a brief
history of UNIX. It also details the functionality for developing
programs for both MVS and UNIX
services. The CICS Transaction Server and transaction processing
is covered as well as platforms for
distributed computing, file sharing, Web enablement and LAN services.
The course describes
OS/390's Softcopy Services and the BookManager system for creating
and reading online books and
the various system management and security tools included in OS/390.
This course is written to
OS/390 Version 2.x.
Audience
This course is designed for system programmers, operators, managers,
system support personnel,
