This course provides an introduction to Visual Basic's capabilities relating to database access and manipulation in an online environment. It explains how databases are organized, how information is retrieved and manipulated in databases, and what technologies are available to ensure cross-platform and uniform access to database information. This course describes the fundamentals of viewing and modifying information in databases using the industry standard Structured Query Language (SQL). It explains how SQL is used with client tools built in Visual Basic, to create powerful queries and statements for a server-side database. The course describes how you can use data controls to access database information. It explains how you can use the Data Environment Designer to create connections, commands, and data-bound forms. Also described are the Data Form Wizard and the ADO Data Control.
