This course is designed to introduce the inexperienced user to
procedures used to install system software (SYSMODs), using SMP/E.
Specifically, it deals with installation command processing, SMP/E
processing analysis and correction techniques, installing functions,
and using SMP/E dialogs.

This course is primarily for system programmers who have no prior practical
experience with SMP/E, and who will be responsible for servicing MVS, MVS/ESA
or OS/390 subsystems.
OS/390 SMP/E Maintaining System Software
Description
This course will give you skills necessary to install, upgrade, and troubleshoot
Windows 2000 Professional. You will learn about the different types of Windows
2000 operating systems and about the features of Windows 2000 Professional. You
will become acquainted with the requirements for installing Windows 2000 Professional,
and you will have a chance to practice installing Windows 2000 Professional.
Finally, you will learn about the common causes for, and solutions to installation
problems, and you will become capable of upgrading earlier Windows operating
systems to Windows 2000 Professional and troubleshooting installation and upgrade
failure problems.
Audience
The course addresses the training needs of system administrators, network designers,
and IT
consultants. This course also addresses the needs of IT professionals who want
to become certified
under the new Windows 2000 MCSE track. Completion of this course and the other

Prerequisites
This course assumes the learner has experience installing or maintaining networks,
although not
necessarily Windows NT networks. Familiarity with Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.0 Workstation
desktop
operating systems is also assumed
