| OS/390 SMP/E Maintaining
System Software
This course is designed to introduce the inexperienced user to
procedures used to install system software (SYSMODs), using SMP/E.
Specifically, it deals with installation command processing, SMP/E
processing analysis and correction techniques, installing functions,
and using SMP/E dialogs.
SMP/E Maintaining System Software training covers such topics
as:
SMP/E Processing Overview
RECEIVE Processing
APPLY Processing
ACCEPT Processing
Reject, Restore and Cleanup
This course is primarily for system programmers who have no prior practical
experience with SMP/E, and who will be responsible for servicing MVS, MVS/ESA
or OS/390 subsystems.
OS/390 and the Internet
This course provides an introduction to the Internet and network
computing, how the Internet is structured, and how it can be used.
The course also describes the OS/390 operating system and the specific
IBM Internet servers that run on it, and outlines how these elements
can provide a secure, open platform for the Internet applications.
OS/390 and the Internet training covers such topics as:
The Internet
Connecting to the Internet
Network Communications
Internet Security
This course is intended for information systems professionals who are interested
in learning more about networking technologies, specifically in an OS/390 environment.
OS/390 and SMP/E Fundamentals
Description
This course describes the capabilities and basic operating processes of System
Modification
Program Extended (SMP/E). Specifically, it discusses SMP/E's system management
and maintenance
capabilities, SMP/E processing and data flow, SYSMOD content and construction,
SMP/E primary
and secondary data sets, and the JCL used for SMP/E execution.
Audience
This course is designed for system programmers who are not familiar with System
Modification
Program Extended (SMP/E) and who will be servicing OS/390 or MVS subsystems.
It will also be useful
for system programmers or data processing managers who wish to understand SMP/E's
capabilities
and processing flow.
Prerequisites
Students should have a basic knowledge of MVS or OS/390 operating systems,
or equivalent
experience by taking the OS/390 Introduction or OS/390 MVS Concepts and Facilities
courses.
